1. Enter a theme (or pick a preset) and choose how many pages (default 24, max 60).
2. Add your chat API key to plan the book, then an OpenAI key to generate page images.
3. Review nodes on the canvas: edit prompts, refine with AI, generate selected or missing pages.
4. Reorder or delete pages as needed; use undo when you change your mind.
5. Export JSON for the plan and PDF for print preview, then check the KDP readiness checklist.

No. Sketchbook AI is a free tool. You bring your own API keys; nothing is stored on our servers.

Which API keys do I need?

Any supported chat provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Groq) for planning and refining prompts. Image generation uses OpenAI’s Images API (DALL·E) with an OpenAI key.

Are pages ready for Amazon KDP as-is?

They are oriented for KDP (8.5×11, B&W interiors, thick outlines), but you should review every page, check margins and content policy, and follow Amazon’s current print guidelines before publishing.

Where are my books stored?

Locally in your browser (localStorage for plans, IndexedDB for images). Clearing site data removes drafts. Export JSON/PDF to keep backups.
